Trespasser wounded in clash on Azeri-Iranian border
Azerbaijani border guards neutralized a trespasser trying to illegally cross into the country from Iran on Wednesday, Azerbaijan’s State Border Service said in a statement.
During the incident, which occurred in Azerbaijan’s borderline Bilasuvar region, the man, wearing a military uniform, refused to stop despite warning shots and attacked the border guards, prompting them to use firearms. The trespasser was wounded and died later in a hospital.
Iran has been notified of the incident.
