German beaten and robbed on the streets of Baku
A 62-year-old German citizen was beaten and robbed on the street in the Azerbaijani capital Baku on Thursday night, reports say.
Hans Zimmerman was robbed after being confronted by unknown individuals, who demanded money and beat him, inflicting a head injury.
They escaped from the scene after a reaction from bystanders, who then took the man to a hospital. After being hospitalized, it was revealed that Zimmerman was drunk.
The hospital doctor said Zimmerman had suffered a brain concussion. He said the patient was in satisfactory condition.
The crime has been reported to the police, and the robbers are being identified.
The robbers reportedly walked away with only 30 manats ($38).
Zimmerman is said to work for a local company as an engineer.
