President of France Nicolas Sarkozy has sent a letter to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
"Mr. President, dear Ilham! After such a busy and successful visit, I want to express You my deepest gratitude for a warm and excellent reception for me in Baku. As I told You during Your visit to Paris in December 2009, I was willing to make a visit to Azerbaijan to witness a number of aspects of the economic success of Your country and the changes carried out in Baku under Your leadership. Despite the limitation of my time, those that I saw made a great impression on me," the letter reads.
Sarkozy thanked President Aliyev and his spouse Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva for the decisive support provided to the establishment of a French lyceum in Baku.
"This project will be useful both for the French community living in Azerbaijan, who strives to give their children an education in the native language and culture, and for young Azerbaijanis who want to enter our universities before starting an active life to serve Your country.
I repeat my proposal to establishing between our countries a strategic partnership that will strengthen the relationships, taking already an intense character. Looking forward to welcome You again in Paris during one of Your future visits, I once again express my appreciation to You, please accept my assurances in highest respect and esteem, and also in friendly feelings," the letter said.
