Ahmadinejad: Iranians, Azeris have fraternal ties (UPDATED)
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has said while hosting the Azerbaijani clerical leader that Iran and Azerbaijan maintain fraternal relations, according to the Iranian president’s website.
"The fraternal relations between the two countries are so deep that no factors can damage them," Ahmadinejad said in a meeting with Caucasus Muslims Office chairman Allahshukur Pashazada, who arrived in Tehran to attend an international conference.
Ahmadinejad said Azerbaijani and Iranian people should unite even more "because our common neighbors do not want development and independence of the two peoples".
Pashazada, in turn, said there have always been good relations between the Iranian and Azerbaijani people, and these relations have been maintained to this day.
