Online TV broadcasts ‘should be run by govt’
Head of Azerbaijan’s broadcasting body has said online television broadcasts should be run by the government, according to international practice.
"Internet TV is one of the options for television broadcasting. It should be regulated by the state, as it is done elsewhere in the world," Nushiravan Maharramli, chairman of the National Television and Radio Council (NTRC), told the press Tuesday.
According to Maharramli, the issue of regulating online TV broadcasts is under discussion not only in Azerbaijan but also in other countries.
"The Council of Europe member states have met to discuss the issue, but failed to pass a unanimous decision. Azerbaijan intends to capitalize on the experience of European countries in this regard. And whichever decision the CE members adopt, Azerbaijan will follow it."
