Azeri ministry drafts proposals on benefits for expat tourists
Azerbaijan’s tourism ministry has drafted proposals to provide tourists coming to the country with benefits for flights and special tariffs, a ministry official told local news agency Trend on Monday.
Firudin Gurbanov, head of the ministry’s administration, noted that the prices for airline tickets in Azerbaijan are very high compared to other countries, and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism has therefore offered to relevant government agencies to reduce them for tourists.
"The government should provide certain benefits to develop tourism," Gurbanov said. "These benefits may attract investments to the tourism sector, as well as help to increase the inflow of tourists to the country. This practice is used elsewhere in the world."
