China’s stance on Karabakh ‘clear and unchanged’
China’s position on the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict over Nagorno Karabakh is "clear and unchanged" and it backs Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity, a Chinese Foreign Ministry official has told Azerbaijani state news agency AzerTAc regarding the recent "municipal elections" held by ethnic Armenian separatists in Azerbaijan’s occupied Nagorno Karabakh region.
The Chinese official expressed hope that the parties would soon find a way to resolve the long-standing conflict and continue holding talks. He added that China would continue making an effort to achieve a solution.
Beijing has repeatedly declared that it supports the resolutions adopted by the United Nations on the Karabakh conflict, which urge an unconditional pullout of Armenian troops from Azerbaijan’s territories occupied since a 1990s war.
