Aliyev meets WHO head
BAKU – Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on Monday met the director general of the World Health Organization Margaret Chan.
Mrs. Margaret Chan expressed gratitude to the government of Azerbaijan and the President for high-level organization of the 61st session of the World Health Organization`s Regional Committee for Europe in Baku.
Chan said she was happy to see the country`s economic accomplishments it gained in the passed period. According to her, participation of 53 countries` representatives at this forum gives chance to closely get acquainted with the development processes in Azerbaijan.
President Aliyev underlined the importance of the session of the World Health Organization`s Regional Committee for Europe. Aliyev assessed this forum as an opportunity to attract attention of the foreign delegations to the works done in the social life of republic, in particular in the health sphere.
He expressed gratitude for support that WHO renders to Azerbaijan. Aliyev said the organization and Azerbaijan cooperates successfully and it will be continued in the years to come.
