Azeri soldier wounded in ceasefire violation

BAKU – An Azerbaijani soldier was wounded on Thursday in a ceasefire violation by Armenian troops, according to Azerbaijan’s Defense Ministry.

Telman Seyfullayev, 19, was hospitalized after being shot near Azerbaijan’s frontline Terter region.

The two South Caucasus republics waged a war in the early 1990s. Armenia has been occupying over 20 percent of Azerbaijan’s territory since then. A ceasefire accord was signed in 1994, but OSCE-brokered peace talks have been largely fruitless so far, and sporadic clashes on the frontline continue.
