No Azeris emigrated to US in 2007
No persons emigrated from Azerbaijan to the United States in 2007,
the US government said.
3,100 Azerbaijani tourists visited the country last year, a report issued by the State Department says.
Among former Soviet republics, 1,000 people emigrated from Armenia, while 4,200 visited the U.S. as tourists.
Most expatriates came to the U.S. from neighboring Mexico (52,400 visas), the Philippines (42,600 visas) and China (32,400 visas).
A total of 6.4 million foreigners came to the U.S. last year. The number of immigrants was 434,000.
Considering the number of immigrant and non-immigrant visas issued to citizens of ex-Soviet states, the U.S. authorities concluded that they were not very keen on coming to the country.
