Azeri community of Karabakh to open offices abroad

BAKU – The Azerbaijani community of the Armenia-occupied Nagorno Karabakh region will open representations abroad, its leader has told the ruling Yeni (New) Azerbaijan Party’s (YAP) website.

Bayram Safarov said much progress has been made in conveying the truth about the Nagorno Karabakh conflict to the world community.

"The Azerbaijani government is paying special attention to this issue, and the work being done is yielding fruit," Safarov said, adding that the country’s embassies and diaspora organizations abroad are active in these efforts as well.

Azerbaijan has been locked in conflict with neighboring Armenia for two decades. 20 percent of Azerbaijan’s territory has been under Armenian occupation since the two countries signed a cease-fire in 1994 following a lengthy war. OSCE-brokered peace talks have been largely fruitless so far.
