Elections to vacant seats in local bodies due in Azerbaijan
BAKU – Elections to vacant seats in municipalities will be held in Azerbaijan this year, the senior electoral body has said.
Central Election Commission chairman Mazahir Panahov told a meeting on Wednesday that following the December 2009 elections, shortfalls were revealed in several local bodies and they were subsequently disbanded.
"Therefore, elections will now be held to vacant seats in nine municipalities," Panahov said.
