Azeri civilian severely wounded by Armenian sniper

BAKU – An Azerbaijani civilian was wounded on Wednesday afternoon in a ceasefire violation by Armenian armed forces.

The 24-year-old woman, resident of a village in the borderline Gazakh region, was severely wounded in her right arm by an Armenian sniper.

On Thursday, a 19-year-old Azerbaijani soldier was injured by a mine blast in a neutral zone on the contact line of the two countries’ troops. The incident occurred near Azerbaijan’s frontline Terter region.

Azerbaijan and Armenia have been locked in conflict for two decades. Armenia has been occupying over 20 percent of Azerbaijan's territory since a war in the early 1990s. A ceasefire accord was signed in 1994, but efforts by international mediators have been largely fruitless so far, and sporadic clashes on the frontline continue.
