Azerbaijan, EU to begin talks on simplified visa rules in fall
BAKU – Azerbaijan and the European Union are expected to begin talks on simplifying visa regulations in fall.
Vugar Bayramov, the national coordinator of the EU's Eastern Partnership program Civil Society Forum (CSF), said relevant documents are ready at the European Commission.
"If the talks are intense, Azerbaijani citizens will be able to travel to the EU countries under simplified rules or without visas for a short term from early next year," Bayramov said. He noted that Azerbaijan could also apply a simplified visa regime for expatriates coming to the country for a short period of time.
Bayramov added that simplified visa regulations could help to expand relations between Azerbaijan and the EU and draw investments to the country’s non-oil sector.
