Aliyev grants high award to BP Azerbaijan head

BAKU – President Ilham Aliyev on Thursday awarded BP Azerbaijan President Rashid Javanshir with the Order of Glory, one of the country’s highest awards, on the occasion of his 60th birthday.

President Aliyev said the award marks Javanshir’s contribution to the development of Azerbaijan’s oil industry.

Aliyev stressed the importance of the long-standing cooperation between his country and BP, saying it is based on "mutual confidence". He said the projects being implemented jointly with the British energy giant are of worldwide scale, voicing confidence that the successful collaboration will be continued.

Javanshir, for his part, said BP’s cooperation with the resource-rich South Caucasus republic was of strategic importance and praised the Azerbaijani president's support for the company’s operation in the country.

BP Azerbaijan is involved in projects on developing the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli (ACG) Caspian oil fields, the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) main oil export pipeline, the country’s largest gas-condensate field, Shahdaniz, and the South Caucasus Pipeline (SCP), a section of a major conduit transporting Shahdaniz gas.
