13 traffic police officers sacked over graft

BAKU – 13 Azerbaijani traffic police officers have been dismissed over corruption-related violations and "conduct incompliant with service in interior bodies", the interior ministry said Monday.

Also, a platoon commander was estranged from service over loosening control over the work of his inferiors, and four other officials faced severe administrative penalties.

The interior ministry reminded that in accord with the orders issued by the anti-corruption commission in January, it had prepared a relevant plan of activities.

"Though a number of appropriate measures have been taken in this direction and positive outcomes achieved, unfortunately, the existing shortfalls have not been completely eliminated and one may still come across police officers who are inclined toward corruption-related violations," the ministry said in a statement.
