Erdogan plans first visit to Azerbaijan after election
ANKARA – Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said he would pay his first foreign visit to Azerbaijan and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus if the ruling party wins Sunday’s parliamentary elections.
Erdogan, who chairs the AKP party, was replying to a question on CNN Turk TV channel about the course of the election campaign.
Asked about foreign visits planned shortly after the election, he said their agenda is already known.
"It would be wrong to talk about that now," Erdogan said. "But usually, we visit Azerbaijan and Northern Cyprus first. This has become a tradition."
AKP is likely to win the parliamentary election in Turkey, analysts say.
