Azerbaijan tests its combat tanks on frontline

BAKU – Azerbaijan held military exercises using its tanks on the frontline with Armenia on Friday, the defense ministry said.

The drill, held in the Beylagan region, 265 km away from the capital Baku, featured maneuvering of Russian-made T-72 M tanks, which can hit targets over a distance of up to 4 km. The tanks are supplied with cutting edge equipment, including nocturnal devices.

A slew of domestically made large-caliber weapons were used as well.

The exercises were watched by representatives of non-governmental organizations, lawmakers and journalists.

Azerbaijan and Armenia have been locked in conflict for two decades.
