Turkey to open defense export office in Azerbaijan: sources
BAKU – Turkey will open a defense export office in the Azerbaijani capital Baku soon, in an effort to increase exports of its military goods, military sources told Azerbaijan’s APA news agency.
In addition to promoting Turkey’s defense industry in the Caucasus and Central Asia regions, the office will be engaged in providing consulting services on Turkish companies’ establishing cooperation in the region and in lobbying activities.
The opening of the office, which is similar to the ones opened in the United States and Qatar, is to be attended by senior Turkish officials.
Turkey plans to export defense industry goods worth an estimated $1 billion in 2011.
Over 20 Turkish defense industry companies have established cooperation and trade ties with neighboring Azerbaijan so far.
