UN chief congratulates Azerbaijan on Republic Day
BAKU – UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has congratulated Azerbaijan on May 28, Day of Republic, in a letter to President Ilham Aliyev.
"I am encouraged to know that I can count on the leadership, dedication and support of Azerbaijan in our continuing endeavor to build a sustainable, safe and just world for all," he wrote in the message, according to the Azerbaijani president’s website.
"Today more than ever, the problems we face transcend national borders. Finding and implementing solutions for these complex and connected challenges requires patience, determination and cooperation – effective, collective global action," the letter said.
"I am determined to see the United Nations keep pace with a rapidly changing world, and to see it deliver real, meaningful results on all three pillars of our work: development, peace and security and human rights."
