Azerbaijan, Vatican sign agreement
BAKU – Azerbaijan and Vatican have signed an agreement covering the Catholic Church’s activity in Azerbaijan, the Holy Throne’s press service said.
The eight-clause agreement covers freedoms to worship the Catholic religion, recognizes and registers the Church and all of its institutions as legal entities, authorizes it to conduct missionary work, and envisions issuance of work visas to its employees.
The document was inked by chairman of the State Committee on Religious Organizations Hidayat Orujov and Vatican’s apostolic nuncio to the country Claudio Gugerotti.
