Another Azeri soldier wounded on frontline

BAKU – An Azerbaijani soldier was wounded on the contact line with Armenian armed forces on Friday, in another ceasefire violation in past days, Azerbaijan's Defense Ministry said.

The 29-year-old warrant officer, wounded in Azerbaijan’s frontline Aghdam region, is in stable condition.

On Tuesday, Armenian troops violated the ceasefire near a village of the Khojavand region, wounding two Azerbaijani soldiers.

The two South Caucasus republics waged a war in the early 1990s. Armenia has been occupying over 20 percent of Azerbaijan’s territory since then. A ceasefire accord was signed in 1994, but OSCE-brokered peace talks have been largely fruitless so far.
