Armenia launches drills in Azeri occupied land - report

BAKU – Armenian armed forces launched military exercises in the occupied areas of Azerbaijan’s Aghdam region on Friday morning. About 20 powerful explosions roared in the area, with mainly heavy artillery being used, the Baku-based ANS TV channel reported.

The sounds of the blasts are also clearly heard on the contact line of the two countries’ troops in the Terter and Aghjabadi regions.

Armenia and Azerbaijan waged a war in the early 1990s. Armenian armed forces have occupied over 20 percent of Azerbaijan’s territory since then. OSCE-brokered peace talks have been largely fruitless so far and sporadic clashes on the frontline continue.
