Private planes may be allowed to fly over in Azerbaijan
BAKU – People and businesses operating in Azerbaijan will be allowed to own private planes and helicopters in the coming years, head of the state aviation agency has said.
Arif Mammadov said the country’s Law on Aviation does not contain relevant clauses, however, due to the existing demand Azerbaijan's Civil Aviation Administration is conducting research and studying other countries’ experience in this area.
According to Mammadov, Azerbaijan’s being in a state of war with Armenia is contributing to the ban on such flights.
He said further that prior to granting permission for private planes, the capacities of the available airports should be considered.
"We need to determine whether or not the airports are capable of receiving such vehicles and servicing fuel, and at what altitude these vehicles will be flying," Mammadov said.
