Youth to back Aliyev in pres poll: survey
Azerbaijan’s young people will back incumbent President Ilham
Aliyev in the presidential elections to be held in October of this
year, according to a survey held recently by the Azerbaijan
Democratic Youth Movement.
1010 youth, who participated in the online public opinion poll held from February 1 to March 22, responded to the question "Being an Azerbaijani young person, whom will you support in the 2008 presidential elections?" The respondents were offered ten leading politicians of Azerbaijan to choose.
According to the results of the survey, 30% of the respondents said that they would back President Aliyev in the forthcoming presidential elections, while 21.5% gave preference to Chairman of the opposition "Azerbaijani Way" Political Movement Ilgar Gasimov. 18.2% of the youth said that they would cast their votes for leader of the opposition Musavat Party Isa Gambar.*
