Azeri diplomat named CE envoy to Moldova
BAKU – Council of Europe Secretary General Thorbjorn Jagland has appointed Azerbaijani national Ulvi Akhundlu his special envoy to Moldova. Akhundlu is the first citizen of Azerbaijan to take such a high post in CE bodies.
Akhundlu, 34, served as an adviser on media issues at the OSCE Baku Office in 2002-2007. In 2007, he began to work for the Council of Europe head office in Strasbourg where he headed the media monitoring division at the communications department. Since 2010, Akhundlu has been in charge of a joint project of the CE and EU in Moldova.
