Azeri presidential aide rules out terror threat

BAKU – An Azerbaijani presidential aide has said there is no threat to the staff of any embassy or expatriates living in the country, in a statement that follows warnings from several diplomatic missions about an alleged threat of terror.

The US, British and Israeli governments have lately advised their citizens to be vigilant in public places due to what is believed to be a threat of terror attacks in Azerbaijan.

"Azerbaijan’s social and political life and crime situation is absolutely stable and is under the government’s control," said Ali Hasanov, head of the Presidential Administration’s social and political affairs department. "However, each embassy, each country has its own criteria on security, and based on them, they reserve the right to warn their citizens of any given development."
