Two killed in southern Azerbaijan building collapse
BAKU – The building of a telephone exchange in southern Azerbaijan partly collapsed on Monday, killing two and injuring several other people, the emergencies ministry said.
Rescue workers recovered from the debris the bodies of a man and a woman who worked for the Masally region’s telecommunications exchange, while four other people were hospitalized with injuries.
Some walls of the four-story building had collapsed, damaging the region’s telecommunications system. Over 24,000 users saw their phone connection severed.
Law enforcers have filed criminal charges.
The building, constructed in 1984, supposedly collapsed due to being in dilapidated condition.
