26 Azeri justice workers sacked over graft
BAKU – 26 employees of Azerbaijan’s justice bodies were dismissed over corruption-related violations in 2010, officials told a board meeting of the Justice Ministry on Tuesday.
Following check-ups conducted by the ministry last year, four people were reported to the prosecutor’s office and over 220 employees faced disciplinary action.
During a meeting of the Commission to Fight Corruption last week, its chairman, Presidential Administration chief Ramiz Mehdiyev pointed to a number of shortfalls in the combat against corruption cited earlier by President Ilham Aliyev. Orders were issued to scrutinize and swiftly resolve the existing problems.
