Over 30,000 join Azerbaijan`s ruling party in 2010
BAKU – 32,186 people joined Azerbaijan's ruling Yeni (New) Azerbaijan Party in 2010, bringing the number of its members to 527,000, it was announced at a board meeting of the party on Wednesday. The new members include over 17,000 youths.
The board meeting approved the financial report of the party for 2010. The party received 4.063 million manats (over $5 million) in membership fees last year. Of the funds received, 2.1m manats was spend on salaries of employees of the Executive Secretariat and officials of local party organizations. The remaining funds were spent on funding party activities, publishing, utilities, travel expenses, charity events, as well as the issuance of the special scholarships to 20 students at high schools.
