Russia ‘highly assesses’ co-op with Azerbaijan
BAKU – Russia highly assesses the level of its cooperation with Azerbaijan, Russian presidential administration chief Sergei Naryshkin said at a meeting with President Ilham Aliyev in Baku on Saturday.
Naryshkin headed a delegation that visited Azerbaijan to attend the opening of a new building of the Russian Information and Culture Center.
"We highly assess the level of our bilateral cooperation in the economic, political and humanitarian fields," he said.
Naryshkin noted that Russia and Azerbaijan plan "many important joint activities" this year, including the forum on humanitarian cooperation due in Baku in September.
President Aliyev stressed the need to begin making preparations for the event, citing its great importance. "Azerbaijan and Russia are the main organizers of this important event, which will now become an international one," he said.
Aliyev said further that the level of the two countries’ relations was "quite high". He noted that important agreements were reached during Russian President Dmitry Medvedev’s visit to Azerbaijan last September.
The Azerbaijani leader voiced hope that the Russian presidential administration chief’s visit would "give an impetus" to the development of bilateral relations.
