13 January 2011 11:12 (UTC+04:00)

BAKU – New Turkmen ambassador to Azerbaijan Toyli Komekov handed a copy of credentials on his appointment to Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov on Wednesday.

The diplomat vowed that during his tenure he would spare no efforts to contribute to deepening relationship between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan.

Komekov was appointed to the post according to a decree enacted by President Kurbanguly Berdymukhamedov on December 23. Prior to his new appointment he chaired the state body on Caspian issues under the Turkmen president and represented his country in talks on the legal status of the basin.

Komekov’s predecessor Annamamed Mamedov died of a kidney failure in November at the age of 40.
