Azeri, Armenian and Russian ministers discuss Karabakh

MOSCOW – The foreign ministers of Azerbaijan, Armenia and Russia held a meeting in Moscow on Monday.

Elmar Mammadyarov, Eduard Nalbandian and Sergei Lavrov discussed key issues pertaining to the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict over Upper (Nagorno) Karabakh, the Russian foreign ministry said. No details of the meeting were disclosed.

Azerbaijan and Armenia have been locked in conflict for two decades. OSCE-brokered peace talks kicked off after a lengthy war that ended with the signing of a shaky cease-fire in 1994. Armenian armed forces continue to occupy over 20 percent of Azerbaijan’s territory. Russia co-chairs the OSCE Minsk Group brokering the peace process, along with the United States and France. Peace talks have been largely fruitless so far.
