Azerbaijan and Turkey to produce grenade launchers

BAKU – Azerbaijan and Turkey will jointly produce grenade launchers. Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Defense Industry and Turkish Mechanical and Chemical Industry Corporation (MKEK) have reached agreement to that end.

Minister Yaver Jamalov said the 40 mm revolver grenade launchers, used for close distance battles, will be manufactured on the basis of MKEK technologies. Talks are also underway on producing the required ammunition.

Azerbaijan offered joint production of grenade launchers to Turkey during the Special Operations Forces Exhibition and Conference (SOFEX) held in Amman, Jordan in May.

MKEK, established in 1950, is a reorganization of government-controlled group of factories in Turkey that provides the Turkish military with supplies, munitions and equipment.

Azerbaijan will also reportedly co-produce long-range missile launchers jointly with Turkish missile manufacturer Roketsan.
