NATO leaders to talk over S Caucasus issues
The problems outstanding in the South Caucasus will be in focus at a NATO summit due in Bucharest, Romania April 2-4, the Azerbaijani vice-speaker told reporters.
Discussions on the resolution of "frozen conflicts" will be held as well, said Ziyafat Asgarov, who heads the Azerbaijani delegation at the NATO Parliamentary Assembly.
NATO Secretary-General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer has invited Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to the summit, the Azerbaijani ambassador to the organization Kamil Khasiyev said. He noted that Baku had not responded to the invitation yet. He did not rule out that a delegation of high-ranking Azerbaijani officials would attend the event.
Azerbaijan is an associate member of the NATO PA.
