Killer hiding in Russia nabbed
BAKU – An Azerbaijani citizen who committed a slew of murders and other grave crimes that sparked public outcry in Azerbaijan has been seized in Russia.
The police in the Russian town of Belgorod managed to detain the outlaw after their Azerbaijani counterparts had informed them about the possibility that he was in the region, Bel.ru news portal said.
The Department of Internal Affairs for Belgorod did not name the criminal but said his extradition to Azerbaijan was under discussion.
The ethnic Georgian individual had lived in Azerbaijan, deserted from the military, and committed numerous grave crimes over several years.
Azerbaijani law enforcement agencies had reportedly announced an international search for the man and his case had been in focus of the country’s leaders.
Azerbaijani police have established that he had fled the country with forged documents and went into hiding in Belgorod.
