Turkey could crack down on PKK in Garabagh - cleric
Turkish officials do not rule out conducting anti-terror operations against Kurdish rebel group PKK in the Armenia-occupied Upper (Nagorno) Garabagh region of Azerbaijan, a senior Azerbaijani clerical leader says.
The Caucasus Clerical Office chairman, Sheikh Allahshukur Pashazada visiting Turkey told the press Friday that during his meeting with Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, a special emphasis was placed on the PKK threat posed to the uncontrolled occupied region.
Erdogan delivered a strongly-worded message to PKK. "Show me just one PKK member in Upper Garabagh, and I know what I will do," he said.
Baku suspects that PKK militants have started to flock in the Armenia-occupied territories after the Turkish military carried out anti-terror operations inside Iraq and the borderline territories. Yerevan has dismissed the statements.
