Top official blames NATO for 'discrimination'
A top Azerbaijani official has said NATO was pursuing a divergent policy toward its members and those cooperating with the alliance.
"The security safeguards for NATO partners and member states are different," Deputy Foreign Minister Araz Azimov told the press.
He noted that Baku has repeatedly appealed to NATO over ensuring partner states' security. "Partner states are fulfilling the same duties as NATO states. They go through the same challenges and risks, but face discrimination. If NATO aspires to develop its relations with partner countries in the Euro-Atlantics region, it should consider issues like this."
At the same time, Azimov said Azerbaijan had no intention to alter its plan of cooperation with the alliance. "On the contrary, we will be focusing not only on military but also on other fields."
