Azeri FM holds talks in New York
BAKU – Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov attending the 65th session of the UN General Assembly in New York has met with his Georgian counterpart Grigol Vashadze.
Discussions focused on bilateral relations, energy projects and related prospects, as well as Mammadyarov’s forthcoming visit to the neighboring South Caucasus republic, the Foreign Ministry said.
The Azerbaijani minister also held talks with Portuguese Foreign Minister Luis Amado. The parties exchanged views on Azerbaijan- Portugal relations, particularly economic cooperation.
Mammadyarov spoke about the possibility of holding a joint business forum.
Amado stressed the need to introduce Azerbaijan more broadly to the Portuguese public. He accepted his counterpart’s invitation to visit Azerbaijan, saying he could visit the country this year.
Mammadyarov also attended a ministerial of the Turkic countries in New York, which was also participated in by the foreign ministers of Turkey, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, Turkey’s Ihlas news agency reported. No details of that meeting were disclosed.
