nBAKU – Azerbaijani believers protested outside the Russian Orthodox Church in Baku on Tuesday to condemn the recent burning of the Koran in the United States.
The representatives of the Juma mosque held the Koran, flowers and Azerbaijani flags.
Imam Ilgar Ibrahimoghlu labeled the insult of the Muslim holy book as terror, saying those who committed this act have no bearing on Christianity.
Father Konstantin, the spokesman for the Orthodox Church in Baku, also said the perpetrators are not followers of any religion and are Godless.
Two priests from the US state of Tennessee arranged the Koran burning last Saturday, which was the anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks on the United States. Azerbaijan’s senior clerical body has strongly condemned the act.
