Diamond smuggling from Dubai thwarted
BAKU – Azeri customs thwarted a smuggling of the large consignment of diamonds from Dubai, UAE, APA reports quoting the State Customs Committee.
A citizen of Azerbaijan, Mr. Rashad Mehraliyev, was detained by the security officials at the Heydar Aliyev International Airport in Baku upon his arrival from Dubai. 64.416 grams of diamonds (322.54 carat) have been confiscated and a criminal case was opened by the Customs under article 206.1 (smuggling) of Azerbaijani Penal Code.
The suspect, who bought the diamonds at the Dubai trade center, was hiding the packages with diamonds under his feet while passing the customs control.
