Minister of Emergency Situations Colonel General Kamaladdin Heydarov met with the newly appointed Ambassador of Qatar to Azerbaijan, Mohammed Hamad Saad Al-Fuhayd Al-Hajri, to discuss bilateral cooperation in combating emergency situations, Azernews reports.

During the meeting, Minister Heydarov highlighted the successful participation of the Qatari delegation in COP29, hosted by Azerbaijan in November under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev. He emphasized the event's historical significance and achievements.

The Minister praised the strong relationship between Azerbaijan and Qatar, built on mutual respect and friendship. He pointed to the rapid expansion of ties through the efforts of the two nations' leaders, particularly the activities of the Joint Economic, Trade, and Technical Commission established in 2016. Heydarov also provided insights into ongoing collaborations under the Agreement on Cooperation in the Field of Emergency Management signed in 2014, while expressing satisfaction with the existing level of cooperation and the potential for further development.

Ambassador Al-Hajri expressed gratitude for the warm reception and commended Azerbaijan’s successful organization of COP29. He reaffirmed Qatar’s commitment to strengthening ties, particularly in preventing and addressing emergency situations, and emphasized the mutual benefits of deepening collaboration between the two countries’ relevant agencies.
