Artist arrested over forging money
BAKU - A female artist has been arrested in Azerbaijan on charges of making large quantities of forged cash, according to the Interior Ministry.
Law enforcers detained the young woman, an Absheron district resident, as she attempted to sell 500 forged 100-manat bills (totaling 50,000 manats, or $625,000) for 4,000 manats ($5,000).
Investigators established that the woman used her drawing skills to make fake money and first tried to prepare twelve 100-manat banknotes, but could not find any "customers" to sell the forged money due to their being of substandard quality. To hide the traces of her illegal activities, she burnt the cash, and, further, made large quantities of fake banknotes. These bills were of high quality, and she found "clients", however, the police prevented the illegal transaction.
