New list cites 77 Azeri “racketeer” papers
BAKU - Azerbaijan’s press watchdog has released a new list of 77 "racketeer" newspapers. The Press Council’s "blacklist" includes media outlets continuously violating regulations of journalists’ professional conduct, failing to publish the views of those subjected to criticism, neglecting people’s privacy, and degrading their honor and dignity, the Council told AssA-Irada.
26 newspapers were removed from the "blacklist" in July on the occasion of the 135th anniversary of the Azerbaijani media.
More than 4,000 media outlets, including over 50 news agencies and 200 newspapers, currently operate in Azerbaijan.
