BAKU - Azerbaijan purchased five Su-25 fighter jets and nine Soviet-made self-propelled Pion artillery guns from Belarus in 2009, says a United Nations report listing Belarusian agreements on last year’s arms deals.
According to the report, Belarus did not buy any weaponry or military machines in 2009, but sold arms to Uganda, Azerbaijan and Sudan.
Also, Belarus sold 23 T-55 tanks to Uganda, three Su-25 fighter jets to Sudan, with all of the machines being Russian-made. The value of the transactions is not reported.
In 2008, Belarus sold three Pion artillery guns to Azerbaijan. It marketed 41 T-72 tanks to the South Caucasus republic in 2006 and 19 T-72 tanks in 2005.
