Two opposition parties agree on election bloc (UPDATED)
BAKU - Two Azerbaijani opposition parties – the Azerbaijan
Liberal Party (ALP) and Civil and Development Party that have long
been represented in the main opposition bloc Azadlig – have agreed
to establish a joint election bloc, acting ALP chairman Avaz
Temirkhan said.
"The new election bloc will be announced after a number of
clarifications have been made," he said, adding that other parties
may join the organization as well.
The Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA), which is part of the
Azadlig bloc, decided last week to launch talks on establishing an
election bloc with Musavat. The move prompted angry responses from
other parties included in Azadlig, and an announcement followed
that the bloc would cease to exist.*
