EU, Azerbaijan to start talks on ‘association agreement’ July 16
The date for talks on an association agreement between
Azerbaijan and European Union has been set for July 16. The EU
delegation will arrive in Azerbaijan for the purpose.
EU special representative for the South Caucasus Peter Semneby
earlier said the agreement will foster rapprochement in the
political, economic and social areas.
The EU envoy said as he wrapped up his visit to Azerbaijan that
during the meetings he held discussions on the country’s November
parliamentary elections. He noted that at the current stage such
issues as using media coverage and holding public actions are
crucial, and after the pre-election campaigns begin, registration
of candidates, reviewing incoming complaints and other matters will
come to the forefront.
