$1bn to be invested in transport in 2008
Investments to be made in Azerbaijan's transport sector will reach
$1 billion in 2008, Minister of Transport Ziya Mammadov said.
"The country's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) has doubled over the last three years, which requires an increase in investments," he told the 47th meeting of the CIS Council of Railway Workers in Baku on Thursday.
A total of $600 million has been invested in the transport sector this year.
Delegations from a number of CIS and Baltic states attended the meeting that focused on developing cooperation among railway offices.
