Austrian FM to head broad delegation on Baku visit
Austrian Foreign Minister Michael Spindelegger is due to arrive in Azerbaijan on June 22 with a 50-people-strong delegation, Austrian Ambassador Sylvia Meier-Kajbic has said.
She told reporters Thursday that the visit by such a broad delegation indicates her country’s interest in its cooperation with the South Caucasus republic. "This interest pertains not only to economics, but also to cooperation in the field of culture."
Spindelegger is due to meet with the Azerbaijani prime minister and foreign minister. Talks will focus on regional and global economics, energy, security issues, Azerbaijan-Austria cultural collaboration, as well as exchange of experience in the fields of science and education. Spindelegger will also attend the opening of the Austrian embassy on June 23 and an Austrian library at the Azerbaijan University of Languages, which will contain 3,000 books and various materials.
Ambassador Meier-Kajbic said Austrian companies are building a winter tourism resort in a mountainous area in the northern Gusar region and are seeking to further expand their operations in Azerbaijan.*
