Azeri premier meets Chinese Communist Party official
Azerbaijan’s Prime Minister Artur Rasizada met Wednesday with He
Guoqiang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political
Bureau of the Chinese Communist Party’s Central Committee and
Secretary of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection.
Rasizada described the visit as a "new stage in the development of mutually beneficial relationship in all spheres between Azerbaijan and China".
The prime minister also touched upon the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict over Upper (Nagorno) Garabagh and efforts of the Azerbaijani leadership towards settling it. He thanked the Chinese leadership for backing Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity.
Guoqiang praised what had been done in Azerbaijan to ensure political stability and economic development. He also hailed the fact that Azerbaijan had been strengthening its international position since it gained independence.
He said China and Azerbaijan enjoyed historical friendship. "We have mutual respect in our political relationship."
Guoqiang said Azerbaijan was a worthy and useful partner for China. "Beijing attaches importance to the development of bilateral ties even more."
On the Nagorno Garabagh conflict, he said the dispute must be settled peacefully and on the basis of Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity.*
